  2. Adidas has strived forward to ensure that all their products contain materials made from recycled polyester by the year 2024. The brand currently produces more than fifteen million pairs of shoes annually from the materials collected from the ocean.
  3. The Prada Group made two big statements this year when they stated that they would be using regenerated nylon and that fur is no longer allowed in any of their brands. They also invested in renewable energy; they are planning to redesign their supply chain by the end of the year 2025.

The Road Ahead

While much work has currently been done, there is still much that remains to be done. Some of the critics have said the fashion Industry has not acted as fast as the urgency of the global environmental crisis calls for.

However, further improvements in the materials and the production process and more importantly, supportive policies and increased awareness among consumers does mark sustainable fashion as the future. There is also an emerging business imperative for sustainability since young generations such as millennials and gen Z are becoming more demanding requiring companies to be authentic in their efforts and accountable for actions.

The shift, as the analysis shows, will, of course, take time. Yet the fashion industry is slowly but surely transforming its self into a rejuvenation process that heals and replenishes rather than taking from the planet.
